Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October 1964. She is an American politician. She is both the first female vice president and the highest ranking female official of the United America. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California in 2011-2017 and an United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In the following years, she was the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was elected district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General for California. Harris was elected again in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, she was a vocal advocate for healthcare reform, federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. The attention of the nation was drawn by her outspoken questioning of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
